FAQ's

How does in-home pet sitting work?

Dog+Cat+Home=Sitter services the San Fernando Valley from Toluca Lake to Woodland Hills, and from around Beverly Glen Dr., Los Angeles to Van Nuys.  We come to your home to feed and water your pet as directed by you, walk the dog or play with the cat, clean up after the dog on the walk and clean out the litter box as needed.  Cat visits are typically 30 minutes long, while dog visits are often 30 minutes, or 45 minutes for more active breeds, such as retrievers or labs.   Overnight visits are 24 hours, which means that we basically live in your home for that period of time - with frequent visits for that lived in look.  We also do home visits for clients that have no pets, but want their mail, trash and lights turned off and on to protect the safety of their home. We are meticulous when we leave, and your home will be just as you left it when you return.

Can you provide more details about the overnights?

An overnight is more than just spending the night with your pet.  For dogs, we offer at least of one mid-day visit, an evening or late afternoon walk, water, feed and play, a potty walk later in the evening and then in the morning, another walk.  

We love dogs and we love walking, so while we are there it is not unusual for our furry friend to get an extra stroll in nice weather. 

Do you use the same sitter for each client and who is this person?

Yes, you will get the same sitter every time unless we let you know ahead of time of a change.  If a new sitter is to be brought into you home, we will set up another 30 minute free consult so that you can meet the new sitter and introduce them to your pets.   Our sitters are required to take a pet CPR class, and we do background checks on all our sitters.

Do you do hikes and dog park walks?

Generally, we only walk in the neighborhood the dog is most familiar with.  Hikes are a “special order” and we will be happy to discuss the hike and a fee.   We do not take our clients’ pets to dog parks under any circumstances, we can control your pet, but we can’t control the pets of others.

Do you take tips or gratuities?

Yes, 100% goes to the sitter.

How do you bill?

Single bookings are all paid in advance, check or cash only.  Regularly scheduled bookings, such as weekly dog walks, are invoiced weekly in advance.  Long term multiple visit bookings; such as trips and travel are 50% in advance, with 50% due upon receipt of invoice at the end of the stay.
